'KEENE, N.H. 01/14/06 - Senior forward Ashley Marble (Topsfield, Me.) had 23 points and 12 rebounds to lead top ranked Southern Maine to a 80-56 victory over Keene State College in a women's Little East Conference women's basketball game played at Spaulding Gym on Saturday.
Southern Maine (14-1, 5-0 LEC), ranked first in the WBCA Coaches Poll and D3 Hoops rankings, continues its dominance of Keene State in LEC play. The Huskies have yet to lose to the Owls in the LEC, a stretch that includes 19 games. It was also USM's 50th straight LEC victory. Keene State (8-7, 3-1 LEC) dropped its third straight game.
Junior guard Bri Barnes (Merrimack, N.H.) was the only double-figure scorers for KSC with 17 points. Freshman forward Jenn Kinney (Salem, N.H.) added nine points and seven rebounds.
Southern Maine took control with an 11-2 run late in the first half. A three-pointer by Donna Cowling (Weeks Mills, Me.) pushed the Huskies lead to 18 (32-18) at the 6:24 mark. Marble had 17 first half points as USM took a 44-27 lead to the locker room. Kinney had eight first half points for the Owls.
Keene State travels to Eastern Conn. on Tuesday for a 5:30 p.m. LEC game.
