'LAKE WALES, FLA. 12/31/05 - The Keene State College women's basketball team concluded its Florida trip with a 70-43 victory over Warner Southern College at the Hampton Inn Tournament on Saturday in Lake Wales.
Keene State, which dropped its first two games in the tournament, improves to 7-3, while Warner Southern, the tournament hosts, falls to 5-10.
Sophomore guard Danielle Graveley (Schenectady, N.Y.) had a game-high 16 points and junior forward Sarah Begnoche (Millville, Mass.) finished with 15 points and eight rebounds to lead the way for the Owls. Keene State, which went on an 18-3 run midway in the first half, took a 33-16 halftime lead and coasted to the victory.
"Warner Southern wasn't as talented as the other teams in the tournament and we were able to get into a flow offensively," said KSC Coach Keith Boucher, whose team played three games in the span of 72 hours. "If anything we've learned how to bounce back and stay focus after playing consecutive games."
Lenise Jones topped the Royals with 15 points.
After returning home on Tuesday, KSC hits the road once again on Wednesday for a game in Troy, N.Y., against Rensselaer Poly Institute.
