'LAKE WALES, FLA. 12/30/05 - The Keene State College women's basketball team dropped its second straight game with a 62-53 setback to Roberts Wesleyan (N.Y.) College at the Hampton Inn Tournament held at Warner Southern College in Lake Wales, Fla. on Friday morning.
The Owls sealed their fate, shooting 7-for-31 from the floor for a 22 percent average and committing 13 turnovers in the first half.
"Our guards did not play to their capabilities today," said KSC coach Keith Boucher. "We did not shoot the ball well, nor did we take care of the ball. We just did not execute."
KSC (6-3), who fell behind by 12 points at the half (28-16), rallied to within two (52-50) with just under four minutes to play, before giving way to the Raiders (8-2).
"To our credit, we came out in the second half with a little more intensity," Boucher said. "But we had already dug ourselves into a hole, and could not get out."
Sarah Begnoche (Millville, Mass.) was the only double-figure scorer for Keene State with 23 points and nine rebounds.
Judy Wright (Syracuse, N.Y.) led Roberts Wesleyan with 30 points and 11 rebounds.
The Owls will face host Warner Southern College in the tournament finale on Saturday (10 a.m.).
