KEENE, N.H. - Five different Keene State College athletic teams are in action this week as the calendar flips to March, including NCAA tournament action for men's basketball and the season openers for women's lacrosse and baseball.
Fresh off winning the Little East Conference tournament for the third time in five years with a 72-69 victory over Eastern Connecticut State University, the Owls (20-7) will find out who, when, and where they are playing when the 64-team NCAA tournament field is announced on the selection show on Monday, February 25 at 12:30 p.m. The show can be viewed on ncaa.com. The first round will be held on Friday, March 1 and, should KSC advance, the second round will take place the following night. KSC has reached the Elite Eight twice (2004, 2017) and the Sweet 16 twice (2007, 2016). Stay tuned to keeneowls.com for more information.
Keene State will stay out on the road and look to rebound when they visit Western New England University on Tuesday, February 26 for a 4:00 p.m. start.
KSC women's lacrosse is scheduled to open the season with a pair of road games, first visiting MIT on Wednesday, February 27 at 4:00 p.m. before a trip to Roger Williams University awaits on Saturday, March 2. That contest will begin at 1:00 p.m.
Indoor Track and Field
The Owl indoor track and field teams will take part in the ECAC Championships in Bronx, N.Y. on Friday, March 1 and Saturday, March 2, as well as the Tufts National Qualifying Meet in Medford, Mass. on March 2.
After having their season opener at Clark University postponed, Keene State is now slated to open their 2019 schedule with a pair of doubleheaders over the weekend. The Owls first play a twinbill at Farmingdale State College on Saturday, March 2 (12:00 p.m.) before heading further south for two games against William Paterson University on Sunday, March 3 at 11:00 a.m.
