Brown leads Owls over Hawks 13-7

BRISTOL, R.I. 4/24/13 – Senior Lauren Brown (Agawam, Mass.) netted five goals and freshman Kaitlin Nolan (Mahopac, N.Y.) scored three times to lead the Keene State College women's lacrosse team to a 13-7 non-conference win over Roger Williams University in Bristol, R.I. on Wednesday night.

Keene State, which has won seven of its last eight games, improves to 9-6.  RWU (6-10), has dropped five of its last six games.

With the scored tied (2-2) KSC reeled off three straight goals, to go up 5-2 on a goal by sophomore Christa Demovellan (Westwood, Mass.) at the 3:25 mark of the first half.

Sophomore Devon Machette (Norwalk, Conn.) scored an unassisted goal with 33 seconds remaining in the half, to cut the Owls' lead to 6-4 at the break.

With the Owls leading 7-5 midway in the second half, Brown took over scoring three consecutive goals to give KSC a 11-5 lead.  Browns' five goals give her a team-leading 41 on the season.

Sophomore Polly Grey scored two goals and senior Nicole Curry (Hampstead, N.H.) and junior Eliza Witherbee (Newburyport, Mass.) also found the back of the net for the Owls.

Sophomore Kelsey Rahilly (East Longmeadow, Mass.) had two goals to lead Roger Williams.

Junior Erin Taylor (Brewster, N.Y.) finished the game with six saves.  Senior Justine Sullivan (Norwell, Mass.) stopped nine shots for the Hawks.

Keene State completes its regular season at Western Conn. on Saturday (12 p.m.).
