WEST PALM BEACH, FLA. 2/13/13 – The Keene State College women's lacrosse team wrapped up its spring week trip to Florida with an 11-6 loss to St. Lawrence University at Lake Lytal Park in West Palm Beach, Florida on Wednesday.
KSC, which dropped both its games at the "Spingfling," falls to 1-3 while the Saints improve to 2-1.
Despite the loss, KSC Coach Katie Arsenault with pleased with the Owls play against one of the stronger teams in the Liberty League. "
"We have some young players who are getting valuable game experience," she said. "The girls stepped it up and we got some good shots on goal. "We're putting the pieces together for out conference schedule."
Falling behind 5-1, Keene State got goals from senior Lauren Brown (Agawam, Mass.) and sophomore Polly Grey (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) to cut the Saints lead to 5-3. Bridget Hurley, who finished with three goals for the Saints, scored in the final seconds of the first half to give St. Lawrence a 6-3 halftime lead.
Brown found the back of the net twice in the first half, giving her a team high10 goals this season.
The Saints tallied the first four goals of the second half to go up 10-3. Junior Eliza Wetherbee (Newburyport, Mass.) netted consecutive goals to make it a 10-5 game. Wetherbee got the Owls final goal to give her three in the game.
Sophomore Erin Taylor (Brewster, N.H.) finished the game with 12 saves for Keene State. Adden Cunningham stopped six shots for St. Lawrence.
The Saints outshot the Owls 25-16. KSC had a slight 10-8 advantage in draw controls.
Keene State hosts Conn. College on Friday (3:30 p.m.) at Owl Athletic Complex.
