CASTLETON, Vt. 3/6/13 – Senior Lauren Brown (Agawam, Mass.) scored five goals and dished out two assists, leading the Keene State College women's lacrosse team to its first win of the season, a 12-10 come-from-behind victory over Castleton State at Spartan Stadium on Wednesday.
Trailing 5-2, the Owls (1-1) outscored the Spartans 4-1 in the final 10 minutes of the first half to knot the game at 6-6 at the break. Brown scored three of KSC's four goals in the uprising.
With the score tied 8-8, sophomore Christa Demovellan (Westwood, Mass.) gave Keene State the lead for good with her second goal of the game. Brown and junior Julie Trombetta (Trumbull, Conn.) followed with goals to push Keene State's lead up to 11-8.
"We tried some new things on offense and that seemed to help us," said KSC Coach Katie Arsenault. "Lauren was very active in front of the goal and did a good job."
Sophomore Polly Grey (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) and Demovellan each finished with two goals while senior Nicole Curry (Hampstead, N.H.), junior Eliza Wetherbee (Newburyport, Mass.) and Trombetta each found the back of the net.
